St. Martin Foundation – Water is Life
The «Water is Life» project is providing the rural population in the southern region of Cameroon with clean drinking water. The project was initiated in 1989 by Urs Egli, a Benedictine priest from Engelberg, and right from the start Heidy and Louis Stadelmann from Walchwil (canton of Zug) have been in charge of its implementation. The project is coordinated from Otélé. To date, more than 1,200 wells have been created in almost as many rural communities, providing more than 360,000 people with reliable access to clean drinking water. The St. Martin Foundation has been supporting this project ever since it was first initiated.
